Before Mirnatius was born, his mother made a deal with the demon Chernobog: he would give her magical power, flawless beauty, and a crown, and in exchange, she would give the demon full rights to her firstborn child. His mother then married the tsar of Lithvas, as promised, and Mirnatius has been possessed by a demon who feeds on misery since the day of his birth.
Despite his mother’s execution for witchcraft when Mirnatius was very young, Chernobog retains full ownership over Mirnatius’s body, using it to hide from sunlight during the day and to hunt down human victims by night. This has made Mirnatius a deeply callous, self-centered man, having spent his entire life reviled by the court as the unwanted son of a dead witch, enduring physical and emotional torment at Chernobog’s hands (including being forced to murder his older half-brother, the only person to ever show Mirnatius kindness), and covering up the gruesome murders Chernobog uses him to commit to avoid being executed himself.
Recently, Chernobog forced Mirnatius to marry a duke’s daughter, Irina, to give Chernobog the chance to eat her. To Mirnatius’s horror, she has managed to evade this fate, uncover his secret, and is now plotting to have him killed--not because she hates him, which he could almost respect, but for the good of the country. He can’t decide whether being executed or being stuck with her forever scares him more, but as usual, he doesn’t get a choice.

visual. Mirnatius is almost inhumanly beautiful, with dark hair, striking green eyes, and a standard prettyboy build. (He also, because this is fantasy Russia, has a beard.) His demon prevents him from scarring or having any physical blemishes in fulfillment of his dead mother’s deal for beauty. When Chernobog is in control, his eyes look reddish–a warning sign for anyone who knows to look for it.
attire. Mirnatius is a wealthy fashionista known for never wearing the same outfit twice. He expends a good amount of magic on ensuring his clothes are the height of fantasy Russian fashion: furs, velvet, silks, gold embroidery, and jewels, mostly of his own imaginative, magical design.
aural. When Mirnatius speaks, his voice is a melodic (but often deadpan) baritone; when Chernobog speaks, the voice is much harsher, like logs cracking in the heat of a fire.
olfactory. Mirnatius smells like incense: “a sharp pungent mix of cinnamon and pepper and resin of pine, and deep below it burning woodsmoke.”

His demon gets a thrill out of devouring anyone who tries to slip into Mirnatius's bed, so he goes out of his way not to give anyone encouragement. (Not because he minds their deaths, mind you; simply because he hates having to cover them up.)
He is also technically married, but the marriage is a sham: he intended for her to be demon food, she's plotting to have him executed. Him being married won’t necessarily stop him from forming relationships, but if cheating in any form bothers you, it’s something to be aware of.

Mirnatius has martial training, is skilled with a bow and arrow, and has immense magical power (though he avoids using that power openly in public, for fear of being arrested and burned as a sorcerer). He also has a Wolverine-like ability to regenerate from wounds whenever his demon is awake and active, even if the demon isn’t actively in control.
